Across the Universe

Posted in Misc. at 10:12 pm by Olórin

I AM BLOWN AWAY!!! oh my god what a movie! I don’t know what to say about it!! I loved it so much and it moved me..this..this is an exception!!

I’ll just tell you the story and shut up!

It’s mainly about the Vietnamese War period in USA (late 60s) and how its affecting the young people and how they’re coping with the changes happening because of it. We see that through Jude, a British young man who goes to America to look for his estranged father. He then meets Max, an American college student and his sister Lucy, a young girl who lives in the suburbs and whom he consequently falls in love with. The movie is a musical consisting of 34 songs composed by members of The Beetles to paint us the rollercoaster of emotions.
It has so much creativity and originality that it keeps you thinking “how did she (the director) come with that?!” throughout the visual scenes.

To all of you out there, watch this movie! It’s a delight to your mind.

Nicole’s Fun Tag

Posted in Misc. at 1:31 pm by Olórin

I was recently tagged by Nicole! Rule is to remove the link that has the same first letter of your blog and then put it at the bottom.

Rule #1: Copy all the links below and replace a single link under the appropriate letter of the alphabet. If your domain name, or even the title of your blog, starts with an “A,” you’d replace the link under that letter “A” and put the replaced link at the bottom. Also, don’t forget to credit the tagger, or where you got the list from, at the end of the list with a full URL of the post so that a pingback gets generated.

Rule #2: You now have to “tag” at least five people and encourage them to participate. Remember, though, that not everyone’s into these kinds of things, so don’t be upset if they don’t participate. Just simply replace your tag. Remember to tag blogs only and no pornographic ones as we do want to keep the integrity as a blogging community.

I tag anyone who’s interested!

Thanks Nicole! ^_^

Halo all!

Hows everybody doing? Thank god the weather’s been abit merciful lately..looks like that bone-shivering cold wave’s over! Didn’t you notice that this winter’s full of cloudy days yet only 3 days of light rain? I WANT RAAINN!!!! hmph..

Anyway..I’m sure all of you are familiar with Godiva chocolate, and I’m sure 95% of you are in love with it and is one of your most important sources to turn to when searching for a small gift! But did any of you wonder why the hell is the logo a naked woman riding a horse? I got interested and curious in the idea..thinking that behind the reason was a great story, and there was!

Turns out that the famous chocolate brand was named after a famous woman! Lady Godiva her name was:

According to Wiki, thats her story:

During the 10th century in Coventry, a city in Englad, the townspeople were in tough living circumstances because of the oppressive taxes forced upon them by Earl Leofric of Mercia, who is the husband of our heroine Lady Godiva. She felt sorry for the townspeople and begged her husband to remove the taxes only to be denied coldly, but after her continuous nagging he told that he would remove them only if she rode the town on a horse ..naked (3afya husband, mal akfa’7a ib 3a9at!!)
Anyway..due to her kind and merciful nature, she agreed (khibla!), but before she went, she ordered the townspeople to stay behind closed doors and closed windows. And she did it! Only one man, a tailor named Tom gauged a hole in his shutters to look at her, thus the phrase “Peeping Tom”!
And so..after her breezy stroll about town, her assfaced husband removed the taxes!

Signature City

Posted in Anime, Photography at 3:26 pm by Olórin

Hows everybody and hows the weekend going? I bet half the population of Kuwait is currently in farms and chalets.. But in my opinion nothing beats a weekend at home. wrapped in layers of blankets and a hot chocolate in hand! For some reason I love listening to Beethoven’s 9th whenever I feel cold and 6th in the summer time! It just fits for some reason!

Anyway, I need help from Anime fans! I’ve been so busy with studying lately I’ve neglected my anime needs and lost track of what’s good and new! So please if you’re currently watching a cool anime, let me know about it!

One night I was in the car during my stay in Saudi I noticed how beautiful the view is from the window… full moon and lights…

…But just when I was taking the shot..the car stepped on a speedbump abruptly causing my hands to shake and the camera in danger of falling! After I checked out how the picture was..thinking it would be blurry crap..I was surprised to see that the lights, instead of being blurry, looked like identical signatures! I love it when mistakes make something new!

Hope you enjoy your weekend wherever you are ^_^

Take care!

Beyond the Horizon

Posted in Photography at 10:58 pm by Olórin

Alo, mon amis!

Okay its seriously getting too cold! Can you believe that our temp. is close to Europe’s? 00; It’s quite rare for me to wear wool and not sweat it’s amazing! But sadly today I sweat a waterfall during the Statistics 2 final..*sniffs*..for the fiiirst time in my life I leave several questions blank (well not first, I was quite reckless when it came to studying in middle school but don’t think that counts ^^;) I usually write anything to save myself the nagging conscience afterwards..but this case is rare!! I can honestly say that the test was written in Gibberish encoded with strange symbols to brain-wash us to quit college! *sobs*

Anyway! I wanna share with you one of my favorite shots..it’s ordinary and normal but it gives me the feeling of openness and inshira7 and that the troubles we worry from are so small under these magnificently wide skies

I took this obviously on a plane on our way to Italy the summer before the last..The only thing I envy pilots for is the view they see!

Unfortunately, since the size is small, the best effect this shot has is hindered,

when its assigned as a Desktop wallpaper its true beauty and openness shows! Heres the link for the original size if anyone’s interested in using it as a wallpaper!

Hope you like it ^_^

Hello?! O_o

Posted in I didn't know that! at 12:22 am by Olórin

*Yaawns and stretches* Halo laddies and bonnylasses!..Quite cold and dusty today..hope asthma sufferers are doing okay! Seeing how it is outside I decided to skip everything, hide under a blanket and watch The Da Vinci Code (believe it or not, this is the first time I watch it ^^;) it was awesome..but the blond dude Silas was REALLY scary!! too scary infact 00; I used to love the actor (Paul Bettany) but now whenever I’ll see him in a movie bakish mna! Terrific story..that Dan Brown is a loopy genius!

Anyway, has anyone wondered why do we say Hello? I was quite curious about that so I looked it up, now of course since the word is quite old, there are many theories of how it was originated, I’ll mention the one that convinced me the most:

According to Wiki, the word Hello might have been the result of a mutation of the word Hullo which was used in older times to express surprise (pleasant surprises I presume!)

Also another reasonable explanation is that it originated from the merging of the words “whole be thou” which means “May you be okay (healthy)” with time.

Of course, the assumption that states Hello was originated with the invention of Telephone is historically wrong since it dates way back.
